Tonight I was viewing photographs taken on an SD card and I was looking at them in the camera's LCD screen. if you do this it doesnt matter what files your OS may write onto the card (Mac, Windows or whatever) and is good practice imho. Even weirder, I can actually view the image for a second or so before it displays the error... AFTER you've recovered the photos, format the card in your camera to prevent this from happening again (dig out that instruction manual to figure out how).
