The right way to fix this would be to disable the page-flipping and recompile the driver. Unlikely to be > purely a timing issue as then there would have been some reports on i915. Read more... thanks.

Recently I've also seen it without composition in gnome and mesa stuff. Well I'm not sure Unity is working, it looked a little slow and strange. Tested on 32-bit Intel with Linux 3.4.0-rc5+, and xorg-video-intel 2.18.0. Please note, not filing a new report may delay your problem being addressed as quickly as possible.

Also, I see some artifacts all over the screen. I reported identical report to Debian: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=656375 Same hardware. There is a very brief, say 6x6 cm white flash appearing in the lower-right corner at boot up just before the upper-left linux-penguin appears (but who cares). Last update of dri2 and gl proto headers on my system was before 2010-11-07 (date of my last comment). Do you want to help us debug the posting issues ? < is the place to report it, thanks ! But just using the no effects option from the login screen menu, has fixed a lot of the problems below.

The odd thing is it doesn't appear to occur on all i8xx/i9xx hardware. I disabled the screensaver by now.

Also, this is a related issue here - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-meta/+bug/115774 (syslog.0 and kern.log.0 grow huge) shawnlandden (shawnlandden) on 2012-04-07 affects: xorg (Arch Linux) → xorg-server Changed in xorg-server: importance: Undecided → Unknown This flips in and out when I click any desktop chrome. Due to this /var gets 100% used and rsyslogd eats high CPU. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained.

Why it is generating the error in the first place might be a more intricate problem. Cesare. Comment 7 John Balcaen 2012-01-19 21:02:42 CET it's not related at all. My logs are no longer being nuked and the spam has stopped!Cheers!

The problem is still present. I'll tag as kernel-unable-to-test-upstream but not kernel-unable-to-test-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER as this doesn't seem appropriate in this case. I tried to use driconf but it does not seem to have any effect on vblank.
