Bridged channels where G.729 is on all legs still use pass-through mode, so that they do not consume a licence. This is because freeswitch.org does not have available a binary that is compatible with Freeswicth v 1.0.5 as compiled in sipXecs rpm's (4.2.1 and earlier). Once the mod_com_g729 has successfully loaded, you will see the following option from the "help" command of the fs_cli: g729_available,,return true or false if g729 is available,mod_com_g729 g729_count,,return permitted license count,mod_com_g729 g729_info,,return But no matter what I do, system keeps using PCMU codec.

Currently, we only support interfaces named with the ethX scheme. I don't use Xen. freeswitch_licence_server is automatically started by mod_com_g729 if freeswitch is started by root, but in sipXecs freeswitch is not started by root. Now, I get error saying: [ERR] mod_g729.c:102 This codec is only usable in passthrough mode! [ERR] switch_core_io.c:1081 Codec G.729 encoder error! G.729 is a toll-quality, low-bandwidth audio codec supported by many VoIP providers. using standard Debian directory layout), then you will need to pass two command line parameters: ./fsg729-xxx-installer [bin_dir modules_dir] For example: ./fsg729-194-installer /usr/bin /usr/lib/freeswitch/mod Your /bin directory will then contain an executable g729_info This command verifies your license is active and shows you the number of licences available/in use.

However, the amount of bandwidth needed to carry a G.729 call is much lower than that for a G.711 call. Use g729_info instead. Upgraded FS to latest version before coming back for help. G.729 is available in two ways: Passthrough Transcoding The passthrough method does not require licensing, however it has some limitations. This file contains your licences which should be extracted to /etc/freeswitch. It cannot encode or decode, hence the error when you try to play your WAV file. Give them permission and freeswitch should be able to auto start it.

If you don't read this until it's too late, then you can send an email to [email protected] to have it reset once so that you can back up the files to A single licence provides you with one encoder and one decoder, which is enough for bridging one call. I did following modifications based on the wiki but nothing seems to work. To do this purchase the additional licenses and make a note of *all* of your license numbers (new and old).
