Then I logged into my Feedburner account > Troubleshooting > Resync Feed. The problem appears to lie somewhere in Atahualpa, because if I switch themes to Twenty Fifteen I get a clean bill of health from Feedburner and validation from Feed Validator. I can only suggest to selectively disable one plugin by another and check the source of the index page for this whitespace each time; when it will disappear you'll find the Oddly, my feed also has [...] but loads OK in Firefox and passes validation, so maybe it's a feedburner thing? I was clueless about this :) but did remember you writing about this.

The error was due to some modifications I made to the doctype of my theme. but i disabled it for checking and the problem remain. I did customise my theme a lot lately with conditionally tagging in WP and I think this could have caused. Thank you for your time.
