Both systray and xft worked like a charm.

Or search the web for that exact error. For example, I did download and install libXpm-3.5.9.tar.gz.

You seem to have CSS turned off. If it fails, it must be something wrong with your setup (or Debian ). For example, the first error was (untruncated): [email protected]:~/bin/dwm-6.1> sudo make clean install cleaning dwm build options: CFLAGS = -std=c99 -pedantic -Wall -Wno-deprecated-declarations -Os -I/usr/X11R6/include -I/usr/X11R6/include/freetype2 -D_BSD_SOURCE -D_POSIX_C_SOURCE=2 -DVERSION="6.1" -DXINERAMA LDFLAGS = Can you explain precisely what files I need and where they need to be as well as any flags I need to set for configure.Thank you.-Jon Top rdm Site Admin Posts:

I didn't notice before that this was the copy of freetype in /usr/X11, not the copy MacPorts provides. If you manage to get both going you will be able to try both and see which suits you better. Thanks again for any and all help. Next error, same thing: n file included from drw.c:6:0: /usr/include/X11/Xft/Xft.h:40:23: fatal error: freetype.h: No such file or directory #include FT_FREETYPE_H ^ compilation terminated.

Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. I'm guessing it's a missing dependency, but I'm not fluent in C yet, so I don't know which. One question though; there's a few lines to be patched to config.def.h in the systray patch; should I rather patch them to config.h instead?Yes. sudo port install emacs +x11 It works for me.

From what I read it doesn't seem like you patched config.mk. It is rather > probable that one of the ines labelled "Ubuntu" will in fact work on > Fedora. > > There has been a pile of work that will lead That dwms xft patch doesn't include fontconfig/fontconfig.h?EDIT: I tried including fontconfig.h - Still got the same error. My patch for config.mk looks like this:--- a/config.mk 2011-12-19 16:02:46.000000000 +0100 +++ b/config.mk 2013-05-22 09:52:47.237000408 Also be sure to add "-lXft and -lfontconfig" to LIBS.

Offline #13 2012-10-23 12:51:02 cortman #! That sounds like the problem you'd get with software that is not compatible with freetype 2.5.1 and later.

Also, I think simply declaring i is not a clean solution, since the cause of the problem is somewhere else. The original toggleview function looks like this:void toggleview(const Arg *arg) { unsigned I think that there should be no problems with Fedora. Or rather, the copy of Xft from /usr/X11, rather than the copy of Xft from MacPorts.
