if you do this it doesnt matter what files your OS may write onto the card (Mac, Windows or whatever) and is good practice imho. It is so easy to swtich on when your hands are all over the place and holding the camera in a funny position. The camera seems fine when reading it's own internal memory - think it's the SD or the camera? Please pardon my complete ignorance here but I don't know what that means or how to do that.
