Has anyone experienced this or does anyone have some sort of explanation as to why this would be happening? If twenty people have the same problem, many of their concerns (and solutions) would be posted on a few threads. I select Update and the file refreshes and recalculates appearing to have updated all values (i.e. Next time they open the file the same problem occurs.

This may not be the problem you're having, but I thought I'd add this, in case anybody could use it. Call this a picky syntactic quirk, but filename extensions matter to Excel. That should just silently update. By listing these broken links in a dropdown box, you can select and treat each broken link differently.

Have you used Edit / Links / Change Source to redirect the links, and saved the result? Select how to de-link. I have not really looked into Excel pulling data directly from Access, but if it meant effectively running a query for each piece, it would be time prohibitive. This nutures laziness and harms data integriy, because no matter how many broken links there are, the file will still appear to be functioning.

Other forums I have been on have no such rule. It's very tedious to find and break each broken link manually. When you can narrow it to specific item, you may find a very specific bit of information or another Microsoft Knowledge Base article that will address it. Source not found.
